UNIFIX

Unifix is a single component easy to use powder tile fixing adhesive. It is chemically based on hydraulic and organic binders which are specially developed for this purpose.

Unifix is a single component easy to use powder tile fixing adhesive. It is chemically based on hydraulic and organic binders which are specially developed for this purpose. It bonds strongly to old and new cementitious substrates, asbestos cement sheet and even tile on tile. It is most unique adhesive for bonding of tile to most difficult substrate and where problems of cracking of tiles, falling off of tiles arises. On curing it forms waterproofing bed between the tiles and the substrate. It forms a strong adhesive and cohesive bond and performs well in cold and hot climatic conditions. It can be used for fixing of glazed, marbles, ceramic, mosaic and glass mosaic / ceramic tiles. It saves time and cost when used for fixing of new tiles on old tiles.

  • Single component, easy to use
  • Adheres strongly to old and new substrate.
  • Nonslip tilling is possible.
  • Fixing work can be started from any side or corner which is not possible in conventional way of fixing.
  • No extra labour is required for holding the tiles.
  • No wetting of substrate is required.
  • Covers entire area below the tiles, hence forms waterproofing bed.
  • No cracking and falling of tiles results.
  • Saves labour, time and cost of redoing.
  • No external curing with water is required.
  • Universal adhesive can be used on floor, vertical walls and ceiling also.
  • Resists hot and cold climatic conditions.
  • Non-toxic and non-flammable.

(1) SURFACE PREPARATION
The surface on which tile fixing is to be dont, should be clean, free of dirt, dust, old paint, oil, wall paper etc. Throughly wire brush the surface. If the surface is too absorbent wetting with water is must. Too smooth surface, slight roughening is needed. It can be done by giving dilute hydrolic acid wash followed by through water washings. If the oil present treat with soap / detergent caustic soda solution followed by water wash.

(2) MIXING WITH WATER:
Shake the powder material in the bag itself. Take 6 - 7 litrs of water (clean) in a mixing bucket (plastic). Add 25 kg. of unifix powder slowly, slowly and mix until a uniform, homogenous, thick paste or creamy consistency is formed. Allow the mix adhesive to mature for 3-4 minutes before application.

(3) APPPLICATON:
Apply a layer of mixed mortar 3 - 5 mm thick to the prepared surface by using 'massion's trowel'. with notch trowel of notched side, pull through the applied mortar bed and remove excess material. Place the tile in plkace with force and move up and down so that the adhesive is fully covered on back of the tile. Do not apply adhesive on entire area because it will dry. To check weather the adhesive is fully covered on back of tile, pull out any on tile and check and again refix it at the same place.

(4) PROVISION OF JOINTS:
Use joint spacers of desired joint thickness in between two tiles so that uniform joint design will create. Plastic or wooden strip spacers are recommended. Tile joint can be grouted after 24 hours of fixing by using UNIGROUT joints grouting material.

(5) STORAGE & SHELF LIFE:
Shelf life is six months when stored in seealed bags at cool and dry place contact with moisture or water will reduce the shelf life.
